Build a UK renewable energy platform from the ground up, backed by the balance sheet and pipeline of one of Germany’s largest independent power producers.

This is a newly created role for someone who wants to originate deals personally rather than manage a process from a distance. You’ll be the first person on the ground in the UK, sourcing and negotiating with developers holding solar, wind, and BESS portfolios, then staying involved through to NTP/COD.

No fixed office yet, no inherited playbook. You’ll shape how this business enters the UK market, with the backing of an established parent company that already has a multi-gigawatt operating portfolio across ten-plus European countries and a major global private equity consortium behind its growth plans.

If you’ve spent your career sourcing deals that someone else then delivers, this is different. You’ll see your own deals through, and build the team around you as the pipeline grows.

What you’ll do

You’ll originate and structure deals with UK developers across solar, wind, and BESS, from first contact and NDAs through exclusivity and due diligence. You’ll coordinate the project lifecycle through to COD, working across finance, PPA, legal, and technical teams without needing to be the specialist in each. You’ll assess grid constraints and co-location opportunities, including alternative uses like data centre demand, and build out a network of developers, landowners, and advisors across the UK.

What you’ll need

• 8+ years in renewable energy business development or origination, ideally across solar, wind, and BESS rather than a single technology
• A track record of personally sourcing and closing deals (co-development agreements, SPAs/APAs, JDAs), not just supporting someone else’s process
• Solid understanding of the full project lifecycle, from origination through permitting, grid connection, financing, and COD
• Comfort working in a lean, early-stage setup with limited local infrastructure
• UK market knowledge and an existing developer network preferred
